Classic salt-and-beef flavor, no sugar, mildly seasoned. The most neutral flavor and the safest default for keto, paleo, and Whole30 recipes.
Bold cracked black pepper and smoke, no added sugar. Adds heat and savor without pushing carbs up — the go-to for keto, paleo, and carnivore-style dishes that want more punch than Original Dyno.
Sweet-savory soy-and-ginger marinade. Big umami flavor, excellent in Asian-inspired dishes, but contains added sugar and soy — not a fit for strict keto, paleo, or Whole30.
Sweet heat glaze (spicy-sweet). Great in bold snacks, kid-friendly dishes with a kick, and anywhere a little sugar and chili can shine — also not strict keto/paleo/Whole30 due to added sugar.
Many recipes call for softening jerky in warm liquid (broth, water, or sauce) for 5–10 minutes before use. This turns tough, dry strips back into tender, chewable meat and is especially useful in soups, stews, and egg dishes.
Each recipe is labeled KETO, PALEO, HIGH PROTEIN, WHOLE30-FRIENDLY, GLUTEN-FREE, or FAMILY/KID-FRIENDLY, based on the flavor specified in that recipe. If you swap flavors, re-check the tag — swapping Original Dyno or Caveman Pepper into a recipe generally keeps it keto/paleo-friendly; swapping in Teriyaki Roar or Sweet Volcano generally does not.
Jerky is a sodium-dense ingredient regardless of flavor. Recipes in this book generally use little to no added salt elsewhere, since the jerky itself carries most of the seasoning load.
Swap suggestions are called out per recipe where a different flavor genuinely changes the dish for the better (or worse, for a given diet goal).
